A Once In A Lifetime St. Luke's Event (lol!)

December 21, 2007

1200 h, Shakeys E. Rodriguez - The original MMX were present except for Lizah, Jun and Ron. The 3rd years together with their irregulars exchanged gifts after the lunch, while the 2nd years irregulars also held the exchanging of gifts right after the 3rd years. Hmmm... I gave Cheese a Mirmo Plush Doll bought at Comic Alley. Haha! I actually do not want to give it coz I bought it a week ago and that huge Mirmo Toy has become close to my heart already (rotflol!). I received from Micu a 500-pesos worth of Gift Certificates from SM. I actually experienced rebound here since earlier in the morning when Micu was asking us our opinion about the gift certificate that she will be giving, I told her that "the best gift that you could give to someone this season is the gift of choice!" Hahaha! Thanks Micu. All the while I thought Kyla's your baby but it turned out that it was actually me. Hehehe!

We had fun. Both Section A then and Section B then of MMX Orig enjoyed each other's company. A reunion indeed.

1500 h, Dean Basa Hall - I was on the platform with Serah, Kat and Daryl rehearsing for our presentation later in the evening for the school's joint students and doctors Christmas Party. This was my first time to practice with them. This was my first time to practice with my new batchmates.

Working with them for an extracurricular activity was fun. I did enjoy the practice and even the kulitan. My ears were numb of the word "kuya" as almost everyone of them calls me that.

After the practice while I, Shee, Kyla, and Rob were walking along the halls of the school and then to the hospital, we were talking about how different this year's Christmas "season" in the school as compared to the previous years. Maybe it's because the party would be a joint effort from the students and faculty. Or perhaps, it's because we were allowed to wear any civilian attire for the school day. Or perhaps, it's because classes have been "cancelled" (though that wasn't the real case coz attendance were checked in some subjects but there were no formal lectures). Or perhaps, it's because we had our long exams last week and this week was nontoxic academically. Whatever it is, we all agreed that this year's school's Christmas celebration is different.

1800 h, St. Luke's College of Medicine Angelo King Auditorium Lobby - Registration started and each of the registrants were given a stub where a raffle number was written. I got 2-69. The items to be raffled were just "simple" items, like 6 iPod Shuffles and a brand new ASUS White Laptop! Some cash prizes were also rumored to be given away that night. So everyone in the lobby were all hyped up.

Then the presentation from the different groups started. First to perform were the 1st years. They did a Musicale. Hahaha! Actually, nagkaroling sila. :-) They sang Kumukutikutitap, with choral arrangement. Then the famous Sa May Bahay Ang Aming Bati, which drove them delusional that they received 1,000,000 PhP. Hehehe! =D The 2nd years followed with a Variety Show... I am part of the 2nd year group by the way. Hehehe! We showcased the different talents of our batch like singing, dancing, acting, modeling (?), etc. I will be posting the script where I have a part at the end of this entry. After us, the Clinical Department represented by the consultants, residents, interns and clerks of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department did a hand mime, complete with all the black costumes, white hand gloves with neon patches, and the black light of course. :-) They conveyed the true meaning of Christmas which is the birth of the Saviour of all mankind. Following them were the 3rd years and the Basic Sciences Department. They performed a dance medley from the tunes of the 70's, to the 80's, the 90's then to the present. Some notable dancers were Dr. Solano, Dra. Tapia, Dra. Paraan and Dr. Decano! Hahaha! I didn't know Dr. Solano could dance to the tune of "Mr. Swabe" or Dra. Tapia to the beat of "Sige Ikembot"! Hahaha! The night was really really fun and alive!

After the performances, the cocktail bar was opened and beer was bottomless. White wine was offered until supplies last. Hehehe! And of course, iced tea and the soda drinks were not absent. Lechon was also served, and so are kutsinta, a weird dish of pork, lumpia, pork barbecue and Asado Siopao.

When the best part of the night that we all have been anticipating came, we were all shouting for our numbers to be called. When a doctor's number is called, we all shout "WAIVE!" or "DONATE!". Hahaha! Only Dra. Siodorra waived her prize. To cut the long story, I didn't win any of the prizes. God was telling me that there is no such thing as "swerte". Hehehe!

To summarize the day, it really was a fun event for the St. Luke's College of Medicine community. I hope that this won't be the last, and that this day has just made a mark and legacy in our school. :-)
