Heartbeat for Christ IV

Where: Calvary Chapel Training Center, Candau-ay, Dumaguete City
When: April 23 - 26, 2008

The Congress

The Christian Students Medical Congress is held every year for Christian medical students in the Philippines. The congress addresses issues medical students face in daily life, whether in campus, in the hospital, in society or in church. This is a chance to share, learn, and encourage each other, as medical students in the Philippines face many similar burdens and problems. The congress provides opportunities for medical students from different parts of the Philippines to:

* collectively listen and respond to God's Word through Bible expositions and plenary sessions
* have joyful interactions in small groups
* hear about medical student ministries in other medical schools
* share God's message of salvation through the Spiritual Care Practicum
* be challenged to live with a commitment to be Christ's witnesses in campus, hospital, church and society

The Theme

The theme, Heartbeat for Christ, echoes God's calling for His people to intimately know the love of Christ and to not be ashamed of His testimony but to share in suffering for the gospel by His power (II Timothy 1:3-14). This new generation of medical students, our generation, all over the Philippines are given the same calling and privilege. We are called to know Christ and not be ashamed for we know whom we have believed. We are called to rise from any spiritual lethargy and dedicate our lives to respond to the needs of the world, to respond to the heartbeat of Christ, for the sake of God's glory.

"God is calling us above all else to be the kind of people whose theme and passion is the supremacy of God in all of life. No one will be able to rise to the magnificence of the evangelistic cause who does not feel the magnificence of Christ. There will be no bg world vision without a big God... There will be no passion to draw others into our worship where there is no passion for worship!"
- John Piper
