Pedia and Neuro Tandem

Thursday (December 7), eve of Pedia and Neuro long exams - The class ended at 11am so my 2010 family (ako, Mcoy, Gem, Tine, Thea, Darien and Bryan) decided to eat out at Mang Jimmy's (UP Diliman vicinity). I didn't enjoy much of the food and eating in general because I was experiencing epigastric pain at that time. I was thinking of ulcer since pain is aggravated by ingestion of food. We finished lunch at around 1:30pm so I arrived home around 2pm. I planned to start studying for Pedia in the afternoon so I could review for Neuro at night. Unfortunately for me, the epigastric pain was persistent and by the time I was fixing my review materials, I began to experience malaise. The urge to sleep was so strong that it overwhelmed me, thus giving myself up to the lures of the benefits of sleeping. So there, I selpt until 6pm. When I woke, I panicked because I realized I haven't reviewed any bit of our trans, both Pedia and Neuro. I decided to go to the school library even if I was still feeling a bit sick so that I would be forced to be awake the whole time that I will spend studying. Thank God, when I arrived at the library, I was able to review for Pedia though I was not able to finish the coverage of the exam. The library closed at 9pm, and by that time, I was so hungry na, so we (ako, Marc, Meg, Mcoy) decided to eat at Jollibee E. Rod for dinner. After eating, Marc and I went back home to continue studying. But you see, the home is treacherous. The enticement is so strong. As soon as I started reading my trans for Pedia, my eyelids (both!) began to droop. So I slept. I felt brave at that time, because I knew that even if I alarm my clock at 4am, or even 5am, I know I couldn't wake up at that time. But I still did.

Friday (December 8), "D-Day" - True enough, I woke up at 7am! Jeepers! Out of the 4 trans given, I finished only 2 which covered the Growth and Development (i.e. Developmental Milestones, computations for Ideal weight, height, Waterlowe's Classification, SMR or Tanner's, etc). I haven't even read Physical Examination and History Taking for Pediatrics.
The examination started at 9am which is supposed to finish by 11am. I quite expected that Pedia exam will be so much difficult because that was what everyone was saying. But after taking the exam, I realized that it was relatively easy. So I was rejoicing.

After eating lunch, I started to review for Neuro. My review started at 10:30am and ended 1pm. I finished the whole trans coverage which included Development of the Human Brain, Lesions of the Cerebrum, Memory and Learning, Dementia, Delirium, etc. When the exam started, I remembered what Dr. Mariano told us: "If you know, you know. If you don't know, you don't know. So exam ends at 3pm. You have to pass your papers anyway." Jeepers! That gave me an idea that the exam would be quite tough. And yes, tinalo pa niya ang Surgery exam!!! I started with #1 and while I was reading all the questions till #50, I thought I was having dementia na. I couldn't remember if those questions were even lectured to us! Weird. Anyway, I thought it was just me who had a hard time, but when I went outside the classroom, I saw everyone who were through cursing Neuro! Hahaha! So, quits na kaming lahat! Nyahaha!
